The Heart of Boys and Girls: Understanding Their Emotional Development

As counselors with decades of experience working with kids, we know that children today are growing up in an incredibly complex world. They are living in an emotionally-entitled and media-saturated culture their emotions simply aren't mature enough to handle.  How do we help them get there?  What can we do...as parents, grandparents and educators who love boys and girls to help ready them to face all that technology and relationships and simply living in today's world will bring? We would love to start the discussion with you.  We'd love to talk with you about the trends we're seeing in the emotional lives of boys and girls.  And then, we'd love to help.  This class will offer you:

• Language to help you help your child learn to positively express their emotions, whatever age.
• Coping skills to help them handle their emotions in constructive rather than destructive ways
• Ways to empower them to gain perspective and learn to self regulate emotionally 

Join us for a time to look at what it means to encourage, nurture and support our kids’ emotional development.  We want to do all we can to prevent them from getting stuck, missing important steps along the way, or from acting out in an inability to manage their emotions.  We will talk through some important emotional milestones for boys and girls to hit along the journey of developing into maturity.  We want to help them learn to live in a way that allows them to experience their emotions but keeps them (and us) from being ruled by them.
